Challenge yourself

When you really want to do something?

So here is the thing. If you really want to do something, you can do it. However, the only way you will do this “something” is if you are serious and committed. It’s about how badly you want this “something”. Am I saying it’s going to be easy? No, that’s not what I’m saying. You will have to make some changes and or adjustments, to make room for, or accommodate what you are trying to achieve. These changes will only take place if what you are trying to do is extremely important to you and only if this is “something” of a high priority. Because lets face it, we do things that are important to us.

Lead by example

I am the kind of person, that understands, that the best way to lead others is by example. So, I personally like to lead by example. This forces me to work on improving myself, so that if and when I want to help or lead someone I have a personal experience of my own. Because let’s be real, nobody wants to hear a person giving them advice or telling them what to do, if the person speaking cannot relate to them. And it makes perfect sense. With that said, we can all use some help in “something”, and we should understand that in order to to improve on that “something” we are having a challenge with, the fastest way learn is to ask for help from someone who already knows what to do. I personally think, it is an admirable quality, when you can admit that you need help in “something”, and its even better when you find someone that is willing to help you.

When you know what to do

Now there are some times where you already know what to do and it’s a matter of you doing it. And that’s the main point of this post, understanding what you need to do and making it your business to challenge yourself to do it. I mean sometimes we tend to get lazy and comfortable, and yes, that includes me too. Now look at these examples: in order to be at work by a certain time, you need to plan accordingly, leave early enough to allow for travel time and some extra time in case something arises on the way to work. So in this case you already know you have to leave early enough. If you know that your eating habits need to improve because your health is already at risk, then you must make it your business to do some research and possibly consult a nutritionist so that you can take control of your health by making better eating choices. If you understand that you have an issue where you are told that you continuously make mistakes in a certain area of your life, whether it’s with family, relationships or work, then make it your business to learn and improve. You might even have to learn how to accept constructive criticism, but just know that we all have something we need to improve on. That is where the challenge begins.

Begin the challenge

Begin by writing down what it is that you need to work on, and then put together a plan of action. If you need help in putting together a plan, then ask someone for help. Once, you figure out what it is that you need to do, set a start date and create a time line of when you hope to have completed, achieved or improved on this “something”. After that, it’s all up to you and how badly you want to make things happen. Yes, some days you are going to feel like you can take over the world and kick butt! And that’s a wonderful feeling. Then there will be days that will be super hard, because we all have this thing called “life” which happens to us, and it creates challenges or we may experience unpleasant situations. Now guess what, it is all up to you and how badly you want to make that change, and you will find a way to adjust. Because, winners adjust. Don’t be a complainer about every single thing, because guess what, nobody likes to be around a complainer, or a person that always has an excuse or a sob story. Buckle up, adjust and become a winner today. Does this mean you will feel like a winner or be a winner on a daily, no, but you can definitely try. Look at your challenges as opportunities and stop to think for a moment, and figure out how you can still turn things around.

My 30 Day Challenge

Right now my personal challenge is to work out 45 mins. daily, no matter what challenges my day brings. This means that either I have to suck it up and get up at the crack of dawn like I used to do, or perhaps workout super late in the evening. But, if the day is not over, I need to make it my business to complete a workout of 45 mins. on a daily basis. I will do this for thirty days and continue to add thirty days at a time. This is how I plan to make my small workout add up over time. This plan will help me to look and feel my best. My 30 day challenge will consist of other things that I want to improve on, like drinking half a gallon a water, reading five to ten pages of a motivational book, organizing/purging and donating items, among other things.

Adapt a Winner Mentality

Your attitude in life makes all the difference in the world, so make the choice to be a winner, and in time those small wins will begin to add up. Kind of like a savings bank account that earns compounded interest. When things come up that kind of throw you off your plan remember, the phrase “winners adjust” and simply adjust. If you miss one day of your plan, simply get back on track the next day, simple as that.
